Proudly returning to Leeds after nearly thirty years the Leeds Pub Piano Competition is set to get a favourite local swinging to a different beat.
This epic competition brings together three simple ingredients – Pints, a Piano and a Pub – promising some of the greatest pub piano entertainment to hit the city in years.
Come along and revel in the rhythm as pianists from across the city and beyond compete to be crowned the 2018 Leeds Pub Piano Competition winner.
Coinciding with the 2018 Leeds International Piano Competition this fringe competition's older sibling, founded in 1963, is one of the world's most famous contests.
The Leeds Pub Piano Competition is sponsored by Tetley's Beer, and is brought to you by Leeds International Concert Season, Leeds College of Music, The Leeds International Piano Competition and The Tetley.
The piano for the competition has been kindly donated by Besbrode Pianos as part of The Leeds International Piano Competition's Piano Trail.
The Leeds Pub Piano Competition is looking for those who can tinkle the ivories to toe‐tapping crowds. Whether you're a budding pianist or have years of experience, it's up to you to prove your pub piano skills in front of an audience and impress the judges.
We want you to perform a set, which could include popular songs, sing‐a‐long hits, old‐fashioned tunes… or whatever you think it is that will both surprise and entertain.
Entrants who are successful in the application process will progress to the final with a chance to win one of three cash prizes.
£500, £250 & £100 given to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed contestants respectively.

Yorkshire-born Clare Teal is one of the UK's most celebrated and much‐loved singers. With her stunning voice, encyclopaedic knowledge of jazz, swing and big band music, and her innate warmth and wit, Clare is a sought‐after singer throughout the country.
Byron Wallen is one of the most innovative, exciting and original trumpet players in the world. Byron has judged many competitions — recently in 2017 he was on the panel of the BBC Young Jazz Musician of the Year Final. For Byron, the winner of the LPPC will be "the musician who can really communicate their musicality and add that mercurial dose of magic".

A keen supporter of the 'Long Live the Local' campaign, Emily believes the Pub Piano competition is a great way to celebrate all that's great about our nation's pubs.
Gwyneth Herbert is an award‐winning British composer and lyricist, vocalist, multi‐instrumentalist and record producer. In her student years, she performed in a jazz duo in pubs and bars which later lead her to share the stage with the likes of Amy Winehouse and Jamie Cullum.
